After many years of traditional community service,AAS created a
Community Service webpage. We placed all the good deeds
our children and staff have done, as well as detailed profiles of
the homes we support. An international school in the Haag discovered
us and expressed their wish to help a needy place too.
They chose the 75th Roma School, and after a half year of
communication and coordination between our Community Service
Office and Helen Ivanova from the Haag, a whole school
initiative was started in the ISH, and students and parents begun
to collect warm winter clothes for the poorest Roma children
who, despite their poverty, attend school regularly. Twenty
children from got their brand new winter jackets, boots, hats,
scarves and gloves on December 25 at the 75th school in Faculteta.
The excellent students at the school received a toy or school supplies
for their excellent marks. The 75th school itself was given a digital
camera to be able to make photos of all important events and load
them on the web. The Roma children prepared a short Thank you
program and sang Bulgarian Christmas Songs and recited poems to
their new Santas. The wonderful winter Christmas day was sunny
and celebrated by the entire neighborhood. Many other people stopped
to greet and thank us for this wonderful initiative.
Thank You!
Masoud, Helen and Sonja from the Hague for
your good hearts and will to create a beautiful
Christmas to these children.
Happy New Year 2007 to All!
